Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has stated that he feels that the draw between his side and Chelsea was a fair result, after the London rivals slugged out a 1-1 draw on Thursday night.
Emmanuel Adebayor’s opener was cancelled out by a Daniel Sturridge effort, and both teams had chances to win the game in the second half.
Despite this, Redknapp feels that an injury to Rafael van der Vaart disrupted the balance of his team, who were already missing Aaron Lennon.
“We started well. For the first 20 or 25 minutes or so we were fantastic,” he told Sky Sports.
“We got the goal and then when they scored I felt they dominated much more of the game second half. It was difficult. We lost Rafa at half time and suddenly we lost the balance of our team.
“We ended up having to stick Luka out wide, making it difficult in the middle of the park. They had an extra man and they will play through you. Three in there will outplay two most of the time.
“Without Aaron it’s difficult to find a balance to the team, to find somebody who can play wide right to play that system.
“They had good chances, we had great chances…we could have easily won it. But certainly a point was a fair result,” he concluded.
The result leaves Spurs in third place, two points ahead of Chelsea and with a game in hand.
