RB Leipzig have joked that Timo Werner is joining Tottenham Hotspur instead of Liverpool!Multiple reports have claimed that the Reds are interested in signing the striker, who has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, while also registering 10 assists.
Bild’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, reported on Wednesday that the striker has a release clause of €60m (£50.4m) and that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing him in when the summer transfer window opens.
And Leipzig have reacted to a tweet from IndyKaila – a famed Twitter ‘ITK’, slang for a user who claims to be in the know, due to inside information – insisting that Werner is instead heading for Spurs!
Of course, Leipzig play Spurs in the Champions League Round of 16.
The two clubs will face off in north London next week in the first leg of the tie, before the two resume hostilities in Germany on March 10th.
No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?
Leipzig are currently second in the Bundesliga, while Werner is the second-highest goalscorer in the league, only behind Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
It remains to be seen if Werner does head to England in the summer, but he will certainly be in north London next week, if Klopp fancies having a look.
Meanwhile, Spurs missed out on this striker in January!
