Eidevall reaches century of gamesArsenal face Liverpool this weekendLooking to put pressure on ChelseaWHAT HAPPENED?
Eidevall reflected on reaching the milestone as his side face Liverpool tomorrow. The Swedish coach has been at the helm for two-and-a-half years and has risen to the difficult task of replacing the popular Joe Montemurro – now at Juventus. Despite not winning the WSL title yet, Eidevall has steered the Gunners through a record-breaking period and brought harmony to the club.

Speaking to Suzanne Wrack, Eidevall said: “It’s impossible to step in at Arsenal and not change in some ways, for the better. The values of the club and the way you must represent the club, on and off the pitch, I’m certain will make you a better person.
“The sky’s the limit for us. But we’re in a massively more competitive environment, which means we need to run even faster because while we are doing these things well, so are our opponents.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Eidevall has been integral to the growth and development of the club as the women's game becomes increasingly popular. The head coach has helped build a connection between the players and fans and can be at least partially credited with the sell-out crowds at the Emirates Stadium. The Swede has led the Gunners in a couple of title races and to a Champions League semi-final, but came up short on each occasion. Despite this, the Arsenal hierarchy rewarded Eidevall with a new contract and see him as the man to continue in the dugout in the long-term.

There will be pressure on Eidevall to deliver a WSL or Champions League title to Arsenal in the coming seasons. The Swede has some of Europe's finest players at his disposal and, with Emma Hayes departing Chelsea at the end of the season, expectations at the club will only heighten. His side travel to Liverpool tomorrow hoping to put pressure on league leaders Chelsea.
