Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence on rape allegations as he insists he is being accused of a lie, describing how the claims have affected his family, tarnished his name, and forced him to change his life. The defender, who has consistently denied the charges, speaks candidly about the emotional toll and the precautions he has taken to protect himself and his loved ones.
Achraf Hakimi speaks out on rape allegations
Hakimi has faced rape allegations since 2023, when a 24-year-old woman accused him of sexual assault at his Boulogne-Billancourt residence. The case has been widely covered in the media, and Hakimi says the claims are false. In his interview with , he emphasised the personal toll the allegations have taken.
“I have never been subjected to such harm," stressed Hakimi. "For me, it was difficult and it continues to be. Because when you write lie after lie, it hurts, especially for my family. My children are still young. They don't know the internet and they can't read. But one day, they're going to read this kind of thing. And for me, seeing that these lies have been written about their father is not pleasant. And I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

Hakimi addressed the media to clarify his stance and share how the allegations have affected his personal life.
"I know that what I was accused of is a lie," he stressed. "I know who I am. I know that I have done nothing and that I will never do that. I have always been at the disposal of the police. I even asked to speak to them to give my version of events. They also have my DNA. I have always been at their entire disposal, unlike the person who accused me, who did not make things easy for those who needed it."
Hakimi acknowledged the intense spotlight that comes with being a professional footballer and emphasised the importance of steering clear of such incidents, a challenge he has addressed by keeping his circle of friends small and carefully chosen.
“As a footballer, I know I'm exposed to this kind of thing. For example, girls approach us. Things like blackmail. In the world of football, a lot of people want to take advantage of us."
He further added: "If you're not surrounded by the right people, it can lead to this kind of thing. After what happened, I changed a lot of things and people. Now, my circle of friends is so small that I don't let anyone in anymore.”
The case's legal backdrop
The allegations date to February 25, 2023, when Hakimi’s accuser claimed that non-consensual advances occurred at his residence while his wife and children were away. Although she initially refused to file a formal complaint, police investigations proceeded, leading to Hakimi being charged and placed under judicial supervision. Hakimi reflected on the ongoing process and is hopeful that his nightmarish case will see the light of truth.
"Thanks to the work of the police, we have made good progress," he added. "Today I have peace of mind. Justice is doing its job. We hope that the truth will come out soon."
AFPWhat are the next steps and possible consequences for Hakimi?
In August 2025, prosecutors requested Hakimi be sent to trial at the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court. If the case goes to court and results in a conviction, he could face up to 15 years in prison. Hakimi’s legal team plans to use all available avenues of appeal to contest the charges. Meanwhile, he continues to be a regular starter for PSG and Morocco.
