Porro deactivates social mediaReceives backlash following postSpurs blow 2-0 lead against ChelseaFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
After Spurs' 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, the Spaniard reshared a statistic posted on X by stats account Squawka which stated: "Pedro Porro is the only defender to be directly involved in 20+ Premier League goals since he made his debut in the competition in February 2023." Spurs fans piled on to the pro after this because he posted nothing about the damning defeat. In response, Porro deactivated his X account.

Porro has consistently shown quality since arriving at Spurs, and played a key role in their phenomenal 4-0 victory over Man City last month, but that hasn't stopped him from receiving criticism from some Tottenham fans. The latest backlash came after his self-aggrandising tweet, and it was enough to push him off social media altogether.
DID YOU KNOW?
When Porro's team-mate Johnson decided to leave Instagram in September after receiving nasty abuse that was called out by manager Ange Postecoglou, it led to a serious uptick in form for the Wales international. Johnson scored six goals in six games after deleting Insta and has been heaped with praise ever since. Porro will be hoping the same thing happens to him.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR SPURS?
Spurs suffered a heartbreaking Premier League defeat against Chelsea after squandering a 2-0 lead on Sunday, but they do at least have an opportunity to make things right in midweek with an important Europa League clash against Rangers at Ibrox. Johnson already has three goals in the competition this season and will be looking to add to that tally against their Scottish opponents.
