Quizzed by on what happens next, Ronaldo’s former United team-mate Saha said: “I don't know if Ronaldo will come back to the Premier League, because there’s nothing that you can predict with this guy, so it’s hard to know for sure. Who would have said he would have scored that amount of goals by now? This guy is chasing 1000. I don't know what to say.

“Ronaldo has eyes on the stuff that normal people don't have. I would still think that whatever he's got in his mind, he's capable of doing it because he's obsessed. Perhaps a chairman wants to take a chance on him. There are still a lot of things that Ronaldo can do – he’s ageing like a fine wine.”
