Per BBC Sport, City are interested in signing Ait-Nouri from Wolves this summer, and there is an expectation that the deal will eventually happen. The club have operated mostly with stopgaps at left-back – particularly Josko Gvardiol, who is naturally a centre-back – and Pep Guardiola is keen to secure a specialist in the position this summer.

Now, Ait-Nouri has seemingly dropped a huge hint over his future preferences. Ait-Nouri recorded 11 goal involvements this season, more than any other defender, and is currently on international duty with Algeria. Upon his arrival with the squad, reporters asked him about his future, and he could not hide his admiration for the man in the Etihad Stadium dugout.

Ait-Nouri told TSA Algerie, via Sport Witness: “I’m focusing on the national team. We’ll see. The most important thing is the two games we’re going to play with the national team.
“Everyone knows that Pep Guardiola is a great coach.”
