The Italy national team took a playful yet brutal jab at England by tweeting a photo of goalkeeper Donnarumma from the Euro 2020 final. This came after Donnarumma's penalty shootout heroics helped Paris Saint-Germain eliminate Arne Slot's side from the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday night.

After Liverpool came away from the Parc des Princes with a slender 1-0 lead, many expected the current Premier League leaders to see out a relatively comfortable evening at Anfield. However, Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the 12th minute to level the tie on aggregate. No more goals were scored as the game remained scoreless after 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra-time.
With the tie finishing 1-1 after 210 minutes of action across two legs, a penalty shootout would determine the fate of the two teams. PSG converted all four of their penalties, taken by Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos, Dembele, and Desire Doue, in that order.
While Mohamed Salah confidently converted the opening penalty for Liverpool, Donnarumma delivered a stunning performance by denying the next two takers — Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones. His remarkable saves were the highlight of the shootout, securing PSG's passage to the quarter-finals.
WHAT THE ITALY NATIONAL TEAM SAID
Taking to Twitter, the Italy national team posted a photo of Donnarumma after the goalkeeper's stunning performance against England in the penalty shootout of the Euro 2020 final which took place in the summer of 2021. Donnarumma saved spot-kicks from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, while Marcus Rashford hit the post, as Italy won the tournament.
"Some things never change", Italy mentioned in their tweet.
